The route

The route climbs towards the cirque and continues across ridges and past lakes (popular tracks include variants via Risco de los Claveles). The terrain is rocky and exposed to wind and rapid changes in the weather. Carry a downloaded track, warm clothing, food, water and a head torch; do not improvise shortcuts off the path.

National Park rules

This is a zone of maximum protection: do not leave the path, respect the quotas and group rules for the Peñalara Massif, and check the current regulations on the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park website before setting off.
